Eastbourne Voluntary Lifeguards
Eastbourne Voluntary Lifeguards is a lifesaving club affiliated to The Royal Life Saving Society and Surf Lifesaving GB. Our club house is located on the Seafront close to Fishermen's Green.
We train regularly throughout the summer and winter seasons and our training times are as follows:
- Tuesdays: 6.30-8.30pm Junior training at EVL Clubhouse
- Wednesday's 7:00-9:00pm social meeting and summer sea training.
- Thursdays 7:00-7:45pm Junior training at the Sovereign Centre, Eastbourne followed by intermediate training at 7:45-8:30pm and Senior Training from 8:30 till 9:00pm.
- Fridays, 6:45-9:15pm Award training at St Bedes School, King Edward's Parade
Eastbourne Voluntary Lifeguards provide award and qualification based training which takes place throughout the year. We can teach and assess the following awards:
Rookie: Bronze, Silver & Gold, Lifesaving 1, 2 & 3, Life Support 1, 2 & 3, Bronze Medallion, Award of Merit, Distinction, Bronze Cross, Silver Cross and NARS Beach lifeguard
Eastbourne Voluntary Lifeguards also provide and organise water safety for Eastbourne Sea Swims 5km & 2km, Eastbourne Pier Raft Race, Eastbourne Rowing Regatta, Eastbourne Lions Swimathon, The Beachy Head Marathon and assist at Airbourne.
At Eastbourne Voluntary Lifeguards we have a 4 meter rib which is used for training, patrols and the events we cover. We also do local patrols along Eastbourne sea front during the summer season.
Eastbourne Voluntary Lifeguards also enter Local, Regional and National competitions and have been quite successful. These competitions are both RLSS and SLSGB.
